Abstract
Oscine birds serve as a key animal model for studying vocal learning, as they require a tutor to develop their song. In this work, we employed a dynamic system based on an avian vocal production model to generate synthetic songs. Using this approach, we synthesized a song that had disappeared from a current population of Rufous-collared sparrows (Zonotrichia capensis) and used it as a vocal tutor for wild juveniles. At least two juveniles successfully learned the introduced song, supporting the potential of synthetic songs as a viable tool for conserving and reintroducing vocal repertoires in wild bird population.
