Abstract

A chaotic trajectory is defined through a well defined rule, such as a map or a differential equation, and it is characterized by a sensitivity to different initial conditions. These properties make chaotic systems as candidates for pseudo random number generators. While the traditional crypto systems are based on prime numbers and permutations, the chaotic models explore the apparent unpredictability of chaotic attractors. Currently, chaos based cryptosystems are as secure as traditional cryptosystems, however, their efficiency is not as good. To address the efficiency issue we propose the use of a hyperchaotic six dimensional (6D) system and propose a method to enhance efficiency and demonstrate its robustness against traditional attacks.
