Abstract

The march of Time is a mystery almost outside the field of physics. The Universe of science is governed by the principle of causality, that of a well-ordered Time where the effects always follow the causes, vortices swept along by the current. Time flows like a river that needs banks to find its direction. Banks are to be found orthogonally to the current, in an imaginary dimension of Time-Space, a dimension inaccessible except by thought. Science can only formulate the consequences of causality, but an artistic installation can question its very foundation and even refuse to allow Time to flow, running the risk of blistering Time-Space. The first part of the presentation will take the form of a performance, a demo of a real Time-reversal machine. The secrets of this machine will be revealed in a formal demonstration in which causality, determinism, reversibility and irreversibility will be discussed in order to understand how the device literally allows us to see the Universe from the point of view of light, and doing so in a Time reserval. The second part will propose other Art installations questioning the nature of Time which often play on the ambiguity between the directions of Time and Space, borrowing from the folded dimensions of Malevitch’sArchitectones, both sensitive and spiritual.
